Topic: RIGHT COMPANY
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners” -1 Corinthians 15:31-
Right
company is connotes suitable persons whom you have around, for
particular purposes. It refers to relating with people of the same
interests, goals, passions, morals and spiritual background.
From
scriptures, we understand that evil communication corrupts good manner.
That means the kind of company you keep will not leave you neutral. It
will either add to you, or subtract from you. Again, the bible says in
Amos 3:3 “Do two people walk together unless they’ve agreed to do so”.
It is in the light of this that you can identify the right company as a
teenager and the following points below can serve as guidelines.
Look for
those who share the same faith belief and values. That is, you must look
out for someone who is genuinely born again and committed to God (John
3:3).
Look for
those who do not willingly go against laid down rules and regulations;
both at home, school and in the church (Romans 13:1).
Look for
those who love God and are interested in spiritual things such as
reading the bible, praying, and not forsaking the assembling of the
saints (that is, Christ- centered gatherings) (Hebrew 10:12). They must
be those excited about everything God- centered.
Look for
those who have goals in life; those who are focused and have a sense of
direction. They should have personal goals which they consciously want
to work towards.
Look for
those who share the same interest with you, not those who will
discourage you from your callings and aspirations but rather encourage
you, even when it seems difficult.
Right
company can easily be found when you fully depend on the Holy Spirit in
guiding you. Friendship is by choice and not by force; and because the
heart of man is deceitful, it is only the Holy Spirit that can discern
the real intent of a man. God help you find and remain with the right
company in Jesus name!
Remain blessed!
