Abuja, Nigeria - Trained linguist and Gospel music minister, Nwakor Emmanuel Chimsom aka Emmasings no doubt is a man with a burning desire to see the reality of God’s divine presence in the lives of his listeners.
Just after the release of his first single titled – Ibu Dike, EmmaSings is back on the Gospel music scene with another worship number and he titles it – Your Presence.
Speaking on the song, EmmaSings shared – “Your Presence" is simply a song for the plea of more of God’s divine presence, because that’s all that matters. We practically need the release of God’s presence in our life every day. My prayer is that your passion for more of God’s divine presence shall be rekindled as you listen to this song that was birthed in my spirit while mediating on Exodus 33 v 15 – If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence”.

11 Year-Old Dublin Based Singer Yoma Debuts With “Don’t Doubt The Lord” | @Primrosedodo by oluwaseun
“And
[Jesus] called a child to Himself and set him before them – and
said ‘unless you become like little children, you will never enter the
kingdom of heaven’” (Mathew 18:3), so it does not come as much surprise
if He chooses to send us a message of hope through a child as well.
Dublin
based singer/songwriter Yoma is 11 years old but God has used her to
bring us an apt message of hope saying “Don’t Doubt the Lord”. The
uptempo Techno-pop fusion follows the theme of the song both in the tone
and mood as well with Yoma’s tender voice asking:
“Why do you still doubt the Lord?
Has he not said it, will he not do it?
He just needs your faith.”
Born
in Galway City in the Republic of Ireland, Ogheneyoma Azania Dodo was
born into a musical family, her maternal grandfather was a singer, her
mum is a choir member at CACC Dublin and Yoma's brothers Tevin and Troy
also sing.
She
developed a passion for music at a young age with singers such as
Chrisette Michelle, Sinach, Frank Edwards, Tasha Cobbs, Kirk Franklin,
Sonnie Badu, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Sammie Okposo, Bob Marley and Sia
shaping her style and prowess.
Yoma's
aim is to use her music to inspire and encourage people to trust in
God, to worship and appreciate him. Yoma is presently a member of the
CACC youth choir and the St Teresa primary school choir – the Superstars

Music: Ralph Gospel – “Wanna Be Your Friend” | @RalphGospel by oluwaseun
This hit single was inspired by Grandma Mrs. Bangoji, Mother of our
local church, House on the Rock, The Apostolic Center. That night of
prayer, at the early hours of the morning, Mama Bangoji talks of how we
know nothing about love. Mama who pioneers a number of NGOs and renders
help to the needy whether she knows them in person or not, took her time
to elucidate on what love really meant. That night, others got to pray
about it. I had to write a song on it. Wanna be your friend tells you
about the vertical love as in relationship with God and the horizontal
love and relationship with your neighbor. This pop song gets everyone
who hears it dancing before they know it.

The gospel music in Nigeria has come a long way as
far back as it started and has seen several artists start
from their humble beginning grow through the years
and attained veteran status both in the Nigerian music
industry and the gospel music industry in Nigeria, being
passionate and consistent in delivering highly spiritually
uplifting, encouraging evergreen inspirational songs
with their lyrics and several awards to prove their
worth, while still being relevant in the gospel music
industry from years back to becoming role models and
inspirations to the present generation artists.

But there is always room for improvement, development,
more growth and expansion. Collaborations between
gospel artists in Nigeria is one unpopular things which
is an essential ingredient for the growth and expansion
of the industry and the artist himself, although there are
some collaboration efforts which are highly applauded
and commended but more major collaborations need to
be done. We need to see more collaborations between
the veterans themselves and I really wonder what is
stopping this from happening. I wonder why we never
saw and have not seen a collaboration between these
artists.

I understand the fact that this is a ministry unlike the
secular music industry where collaborations are done
merely for fame and financial gains, and that the spirit
of God has to give a leading a purpose, a message for
a collaboration to be done by two or more gospel artists
and should not be rushed upon. Every artist desires to
display to the world his own talent, skills and abilities
which is very essential but it doesn’t end there as no
man is an island, features and collaborations are others
means to boost and showcase an artists’ musical
competence, prowess, artistic knowledge versatility and
how vast the artist is musically besides solo efforts.
These are long overdue collabos that gospel music
lovers and fans in Nigeria have been waiting for but
rather than these what is becoming a trend is gospel
artists featuring secular artists which the church at
large has clearly condemned and disapproved or are we
then saying it is better to feature a secular artist than

to feature a secular act other than a gospel artist or

It is a highly commendable step seeing that some
veteran artists have worked with upcoming artists for
this they are commended, as one measure of
successful artist is how many young artist he has raised
through his career. It is a step in the right direction.

One limitation to the growth of the Nigerian gospel
music industry is artist’s who feature other artists who
attend same local denomination with them which has
the possibility of causing division among artists in the
industry. I hope our dear artists pay more attention into
this aspect of music making in their musical career
while raising young artists and work towards
international collaborations also.

July, early morning around half seven but the sunlight is already
pouring, through the curtain less window as it was summer. Suddenly I
felt a push to write 'I Choose to Be Free'.
I
get so inspired by the song 'I Choose To Be Free' as it is a song I
wrote in 2011 summer when I was in a situation I did not see coming.
Then I felt unsettled with sleepless nights and cloudless mornings.
If
you have come across a book titled 'All the beggars riding' by Lucy
Caldwell, you might understand my situation. A story about Lara and her
brother that lost their father in a terrible accident and she was
trying to erase the memories and get back on track.
So
at that distressing time I made sure I meditated everyday on
Deuteronomy 30:9 "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against
you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life that you and your children may live".
Also I make the confession and declare 'I Choose to Be Free' every time. Then I started seeing results in my life.
Going
to record the song with my producer Wole Oni in February 2013 the
waiting now was like a bubble in my chest. However, going into studio
was a breathless experience as I felt the hand of God on the project."
Everyday
life pastes its dulling moments and routines over the rawness. Though
the rawness is there, but I strongly believe we should choose to be free
from bondage, slavery, poverty, barrenness, manipulation, condemnation,
retrogression, setback, affliction, oppression and everything that God
does not approve of in our lives.
Yes we should shine victoriously, be above and not beneath because God has set us FREE to rule as kings and priestsforever!
So
this is a way of giving back what God has blessed me with and I hope
the song continues to bless all my friends and fans around the world.

News: Kenny Kore’s Message To Gospel Artistes On Collaborating With Secular Artistes | @KennyKore
One topic that is still causing a lot of controversy in the Gospel
music scene, is the issue of whether Gospel artiste should feature in
songs with secular artiste, or whether should Pastors allow secular
artiste come perform in church. Although, there have been some
interesting comments/views on social media about the issue, and Gospel
Minister and former member of Award winning Afro Beat gospel music group
Infinity, Kenny Kore shares his thought and warns Gospel artiste
against getting into ”The identity crisis they might encounter by
colloborating with secular artiste.
In his words ”You see, the problem with secular artist singing moral songs is that they aren’t stable, its just a matter of time before they sing immoral. And that’s how you pollute the waters. I’ve collaborated on works that have secular artists, but I won’t always do it, and I definitely won’t advice others to do it too.
You don’t need the identity crises that comes with collaborating with folks who uses the same plate you use to serve GOD to serve dogs. Jesus may have eaten and drunk with unbelievers, but He didn’t do it so that it can become our excuse to become friends with the world.
Friendship with the world is enmity with GOD. There are gray areas in all of these things, but it’s just a matter of time before you know those fremzing up, and those who’re separated unto winning souls to YAHWEH. Secular is anything that exclude GOD, why would a true Christian want to do that?”
On singing about social issues, he said ”I for example sing about different social issues from a Christian perspective, that’s how a Christian lawyer, doctor, trader etc should do their businesses, from a Christian perspective. Nobody is putting anybody on a tight rope about what you listen to; just know that you reap what you sow. Garbage in, garbage out. If you understand the investment GOD has made on you, you’ll be careful about the type of stuff you open yourself to. GOD said; today I present before you life and death, choose life that you may live”.
He went ahead to say that ”The error of King Belshazzar of Babylon before the Handwriting on the wall. People need to stop acting like the Bible isn’t explicit about the criteria of a MINISTER OF GOD. Yes, GOD can use anything and anyone, but HE often would not use a donkey if the man of GOD is living in obedience. He won’t turn stone to bread, if there’s still a widow in Zarephath.
He also commented on the issue of whether secular artistes should be allowed to perform in churches, in his words ”See what the scriptures says about who must lead, teach, minister to GOD’s people; “This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of an elder, he desireth a good work. An elder then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. AND LET THESE ALSO FIRST BE PROVED; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
It is because a lot of people don’t know what the Bible says about who should minister to them, that’s why any dick and harry can hold the microphone and showcase forms of godliness without power, and we’re supposed to be shouting Halleluyah. What is the church suppose to do, besides being vigilant, aware, awake, alive, alert, wise…?, secularising our devotions”? He concluded.
